March 3rd BB night ROCKED.
Yes it did. I had an amazing time playing alongside Tom Burbank and Jega. I have never seen Kadan so PACKED.
People were writing about it up on the Planet Mu website too. A fellow named teknowiz wrote:

I came from Long Beach to see this show.
After two hours of driving:
The Kadan is a very, very inconspicuous "hideout." You would think it was just your average joe schmoe bar, and then there is this room to the side where you can play darts...AND have your ears blasted out by speakers from all around. You would not think a night of IDM would be held at such a place, but wow...I like, I like.
While texting a girl who could not make it down south with me, a guy was arranging some furniture and politely asked me to move from the couch I sat on. He said his name was Miguel (aka Shikaku), and he was doing the visuals for this fest. We talked for a bit, and later he went out of his way to have me meet Jega, which was very cool of him. We all talked for a short while and then the music began...
The house DJ--or at least I think she was the house DJ--spun some records to get things started. She set the mood well, I thought. I sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed my vodka.
Up next was Memeshift, who operated a laptop and a keyboard. Now the music REALLY started to play. He had some catchy rhythms going, as I could pick out some beats from Jackson and His Computer Band, and even ORBITAL! Nice! Memeshift looked like he was having a blast during his show and during everyone else's show.
When Tom Burbank first came on you knew you were in for a treat. He was rippin' beats up, down, and all around. His stuff was hmmm, how do you categorize it? "Dubsteppish"? Nah, his stuff was much more than simple dubstep. Squelchy, dirty, glitchy hop? Yeah...that's more like it. (Think EdIT, but twisted). Whatever it was, it was baaadasss. He even played his "Famous" Gnats.
Jega was the main event. His stuff was so loud and so dark that the speakers sounded like they were on their way out. He played most of the stuff he played at the LA show a few weeks back, but changed up the tempo (much faster intro), messed around with the music some more, and added some NEW music. I really, really like his intro...it sounds like it had some vocals, piano, strings, and some wicked drums. This guy is a true MUSICIAN. Some of the highlights of his show: his old tunes (Unity Gain?) which sound fresh, the scatting vocals--first with music and then all by itself as a soli (when the crowd at the Kadan went NUTS!), and the ending which was simply...overwhelming. Ha ha! This show was intense, baby. Even Jega was tired by the middle of his show as he sat down and took a long drink of his beer. When he was done he got huge applause. Killer, killer show.
A big thanks goes out to The Kadan, Miguel, Memeshift, Tom, and Jega (and some of the other folks who put this on). That was a fun night! I hope catch you guys at a show again sometime soon. And for those of you who live in San Diego but don't know about this little place called The Kadan--you need to check this cozy place out, ESPECIALLY on BrokenBeat nights (every first Saturday of the month?)
'Till next time...
